Veterans Benefits
We would like to thank all our veterans who served our country. We feel we owe them great gratitude. We consider it an honor to be able to assist Veterans and families of Veterans with burial benefits. We complete, and file all applications for such items as Markers, Flags, approval for burial in a VA cemetery, and reimbursement for funeral cost for eligible veterans from the VA. We also help in obtaining other memorial items such as Presidential Memorial Certificates, medallions, and military funeral honors. Our funeral home will assist families with veterans benefits even if we were not involved in the care of the veteran after they passed.

Social Security
We notify Social Security on behalf of the family. The standard benefits currently provided include the social security death benefit ($255.00) payable to a surviving spouse or dependent child. Dependent children would be entitled to survivor benefits. A surviving spouse would be entitled to receive their spouse’s benefit if it was higher than what they were receiving.

Life Insurance
As a locally owned and family-operated funeral home, Dobson Family Funeral & Cremation Services understands that many families choose to use life insurance to cover the cost of funeral and cremation arrangements. We are pleased to accept life insurance assignments as a form of payment, subject to proper verification of the policy.
Like many funeral homes, we utilize a third-party service to process life insurance claims and provide timely payment. A processing fee of 3.76% of the insurance proceeds assigned to the funeral home, with a minimum processing fee of $125.00, applies to all life insurance assignments.
As a family-owned and operated funeral home, our goal is to make this process as simple and convenient as possible for the families we serve, while providing clear and transparent information about any associated fees.

VA Burials
All VA burial benefits are handled at no additional cost. We do not have a charge for accepting life insurance assignments; we are glad to accept that as a form of payment with proper verification of policy.
