Richard Rudolph Petrin Obituary (1936 - 2023)

Richard Rudolph Petrin June 17, 1936 to December 24, 2023 Richard "Dick" Petrin of Arundel, Maine passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, at his home, 15 Laura Lane with his daughters at his side. Dick was born June 17, 1936, in Biddeford, Maine, the son of Rudolph and Lucille (St. Ours) Petrin. He was educated in local schools. He married Dorothy Alice Laverriere and together they had nine children. They owned and operated Seacoast Tractor Sales in Scarborough, Maine for many years. Prior to that he held many mechanic jobs providing as best he could for his growing family. Together in Arundel, they ran a horse-riding stable and snowmobile rentals in the big field across the road from their tiny farmhouse. Outgrowing their three bedroom, one bath home with eight children, they built the " big white house" on the hill....and there came child number nine! They resided there for many decades. In his younger years, Dick enjoyed tinkering with cars, engines, horse competitions. He loved working with his hands. He was an avid outdoorsman his whole life. He enjoyed spending time with family at camp in Standish and Jackman. Many fond memories were made riding snowmobiles, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and scouting the back roads in Jackman. After moving to Jackman, he became a Registered Maine Guide. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with others. He made many friends, near and far, during the many hunting seasons he was able to be a part of. He was a great teacher! While living in Jackman, he built many camps and homes in the Long Pond area. He was a talented carpenter! He was a "Jack of all Trades" type of man. He was super organized, especially his garage! If anything was out of place, he knew it! Dick will certainly be missed by many. He was a generous man, always giving of himself and never expecting anything in return. He was quiet for the most part but always made his needs known, was certainly stubborn, had his own sense of humor, was short-tempered, and loved his Milky Way candy bars! He will be remembered as a caring, loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, good friend, and a very hard worker at everything he ever attempted! He is survived by three sons, four daughters, one brother, one sister, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Per his request, services will be private.
