Pauline (Vitali) Loranger
April 10, 1948 – November 11, 2025

Pauline (Vitali) Loranger, 77, of Biddeford, Maine, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 10, 1948, in Biddeford, the daughter of the late Ralph A. Loranger and Lorraine (St. Louis) Loranger.

Pauline was raised in Biddeford and graduated from Biddeford High School, Class of 1967. Later in life, she proudly earned her degree from the University of Southern Maine, an achievement that reflected her determination and commitment to lifelong learning.

She was the devoted mother of Richard M. Vitali, and the cherished “Memere” to her three beloved grandchildren—Owen, Jackson, and Isabella.

Pauline treasured every moment spent with them. She cared for Owen before he entered kindergarten, and when Jackson and Isabella joined the family, her joy multiplied.

As a Memere Pauline loved having one-on-one sleepovers filled with crafting, drawing, games, cooking, painting, and a bedtime movie. No visit was complete without her famous Peanut Butter Pancakes with chocolate chips for breakfast or her family-favorite Chocolate Graham Cracker Cream Cake for dessert.

Pauline began her professional and volunteer journey in Connecticut, where she was active in her cousin’s school community. She joined the K–2nd Grade Mother’s Club with her cousin, participating in school fairs, classroom activities, and field trips.

After returning to Maine, she continued to immerse herself in her son’s education—serving as a room parent, P.T.O. officer, and fundraiser organizer. She especially enjoyed helping students with classroom activities and leading creative craft projects for holidays like Mother’s and Father’s Day.

Pauline dedicated herself to the In-A-Pinch Non-Food Pantry, serving as treasurer, fundraiser, shopper, and board member.

Her generosity extended to Good Shepherd Parish at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco, where she taught first-grade religious education for many years, helped at the Christmas Fair, chaired the 50/50 raffle, and volunteered wherever she was needed.

In her later years, Pauline continued to share her warmth and compassion through the Opportunity Alliance Foster Grandparent Program, serving for about seven and a half years at Biddeford Primary School. There, everyone lovingly called her “Memere.” She worked closely with first- and second-grade students alongside teacher Veronica Towne, whose dedication and creativity she deeply admired.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents; sisters Claudette Faulkner of Brewer and Constance Verrier of Fairfield; brother Ralph Loranger; sister-in-law Joyce Loranger of West Hartford, CT; brother-in-law Jeremy Twomey of Saco; and nephews Robert and Joseph Loranger of New Britain, CT, and Bruce and Brian Faulkner of Brewer.

She is survived by her loving son Richard and his wife Brenda; grandchildren Owen, Jackson, and Isabella, all of Wells; her sister Joan Twomey of Port Orange, Florida; brothers-in-law Reginald Faulkner of Brewer and John Verrier of Fairfield; her Aunt Beverly St. Louis of Port Orange, FL; nieces Cynthia of Portland, Kathy of Port Orange, Jennifer and Erika of Fairfield; nephews David, Keith, and Jay; and great-nieces and nephews Sabrina, Stephanie, Kalle, Sean, and Dylan. She is also survived by many beloved cousins, including Carol, Joslyn and her family, and John and Lisa St. Louis and their family.

The family would like to thank the following people, her Doula Elizabeth Straka, Doctor Troung and staff, Palliative Care, Hospice of Southern Maine and her Nurse Sue, and Carrie and all those who came to help care for her needs.

Pauline’s gentle spirit, deep faith, and lifelong devotion to helping others will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 120 West Street, Biddeford, Maine.
