Margaret Macomber

–

Arundel, Maine

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Gail Dalton Macomber, known to many simply as Gail—a devoted mother, grandmother, cherished friend, and woman of unwavering faith. Gail peacefully passed away August 23, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial House in Scarborough, Maine.

Gail was born in Brenton, West Virginia on August 3, 1942, to Marvin and Velma Dalton. She was an incredible mother and friend whose love and support impacted the lives of everyone around her. Her dedication to God, her family and those she loved was the foundation of her life.

Gail’s faith in God was steadfast and deeply rooted. She shared her beliefs with grace and conviction, always with the desire to teach others what she learned in a lifetime spent deeply studying the word of God and trusting in Him.

A creative woman of remarkable talent, Gail excelled in everything she set her mind to—calligraphy, drawing, knitting, sewing, beading, and more. She also gave to her community in many ways including serving as an EMT, running the town store and working at polling booths during elections. Gail was always available with an open door to lend an ear or a helping hand—and sometimes a strong opinion! Her favorite topics were religion and politics, of course.

Gail was predeceased by her daughter Teresa and her grandchildren Amber and Joshua. She is survived by her long-term partner Abram Davis, her children Michael, Delana (Mikhael), Anne (Alan), William Jr. (Leah), and Ida Maria (Chuck); as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always remember her loyalty, faith and love.

In deep appreciation of their services and support, please consider making a memorial donation to Hospice of Southern Maine at 390 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074, or online at www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org/donate.

Celebration of Life gatherings will be held on Saturday, October 11th in Saco, Maine and October 12th in Castine, Maine. All who knew and loved Gail are welcome to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life.
