Kelli Getchell Obituary (2024)

Bucksport-formerly of South Meriden, CT: Kelli Jean Getchell, 61, passed away September 28,2024, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, surrounded by her family after a valiant fight against asudden illness. She was born August 25, 1963, in Meriden, CT, the daughter of Mary Jane(Walsh) Getchell. She is survived by her mother, Mary Jane Getchell of Bucksport; her sister, Keira Getchell, of Bucksport; a brother, Thomas Getchell Jr, and his wife Kelly Getchell of Columbia, CT; a brother,Kris Getchell, of South Meriden, CT; a niece and nephew Gabrielle and TJ and their spouses as well as grand-nephew, Henry. Kelli worked as a Unit Secretary at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden, CT before moving to Maine in 2005. In her personal life, Kelli was a gifted artist who wasn’t defined by a medium. She worked with oil paints, watercolors, and acrylic paints with equal talent; sculpted clay into anything from ashtrays to dragons; created journals and scrapbooks from scraps of wrapping paper, birthday cards, and other material; and could knit and crochet anything you asked for. An avid Barbie and doll collector, she had friends worldwide with whom she discussed the latest in doll news and fashion and showed off her skill in remaking destroyed Barbies into renewed beauties. Her family finds great comfort in the art she leaves behind and from her supportive friends.
