In Loving Memory of Jonathan David Schofield
Jonathan David Schofield, beloved son and brother, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 4, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born on December 3, 1969, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts, to David and Ethelyn (Tripp) Schofield. He grew up in North Eastham, Massachusetts, where his love for Cape Cod and the water began.
Jonathan attended Trinity Christian Academy of Cape Cod before continuing his education at Nauset Regional High School, where he played basketball. He later graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Jonathan found his calling in sales, where his genuine love of people made him a natural. He worked at Dartmouth Building Supply in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, before spending the last 18 years of his career with Bankers Life Insurance Company. Jonathan truly cared about his customers and co-workers, often going above and beyond to help others. Building relationships came naturally to him, and he took pride in making people feel valued and cared for. His kindness, dedication, and willingness to do a little extra for others were qualities that made him special.
Outside of work, Jonathan found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and cherished any opportunity to be out on the water. Cape Cod always held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed returning to his favorite spots, including Arnold's, a beloved destination that was part of his Cape Cod memories.
Music was another of Jonathan's passions. He loved playing the guitar and sharing that joy with his brother-in-law Ron and nephew Logan. Those moments spent making music together were a reflection of what mattered most to Jonathan: family, connection, and enjoying time with the people he loved.
Jonathan attended Island Pond Baptist Church in Hampstead, NH regularly and had reconnected with his faith in the last couple of years of his life. He talked often about his faith with family and his desire to serve the Lord and to be able to share his faith with others.
Jonathan leaves behind his loving mother, Ethelyn (Tripp) Schofield; his sisters, Bette Schofield and her husband, John Zimmermann; Laurie Heselton and her husband, Dan Heselton; and Bonnie Terrill and her husband, Ron Terrill and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former co-workers, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Jonathan will be remembered for his love of people, his faith, his caring heart, his devotion to family, his sense of humor and his appreciation for the places and simple pleasures that brought him joy. Whether he was helping a customer, enjoying a day on the water, returning to Cape Cod, or sharing music with family, he found ways to make meaningful connections with those around him.
Though he is gone, the memories of his laughter, kindness, and love will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a gift to his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will forever be remembered with love.
May he rest in heaven, forever held in the hearts of those who loved him until we see him again.
