Jill Sherman

–

Arundel, Maine

Jill Sherman, a beautiful, brilliant beacon of light, returned to the stars Wednesday, February 5th. Jill loved and felt deeply. Her inquisitive, creative, selfless nature and intense drive took Jill from humble beginnings to the upper echelons marketing. Her joy, empathy, and wicked sense of humor made impressions that lasted a lifetime.

Jill grew up in California and Canada. The youngest of four siblings, Jill forged her own path that included several cherished childhood friends. Jill credited her brother Eric for shaping her love of music and influencing her sense of humor. Jill left home at 18 to make her way in a crazy world.

She returned to California obtaining degrees in life, nursing, and marketing. Jill quickly climbed the corporate ladder from the Subway counter in California to Marketing Director at Bonne Bell in Ohio to co-founder and cultivator of her own beauty brand again in California to Senior Vice President, Social Content & Strategy at Digitas North America in Massachusetts to Head of Marketing at North Spore in Maine to an internationally recognized Instagram account fashion.biologique. Jill’s genius, tenacity, expertise, and affability garnered her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her personality and wit made her a magnet at the office. Jill took great satisfaction from her work and often joked that she wanted to continue doing so well into her 90’s.

Jill enjoyed traveling the globe especially with Onya, her friend of 45 years. Jill and Onya would be dancing on the sand just like that river twisting through the dusty land. They made fast friends wherever they planed, trained, or automobiled. She envied Onya’s ability to book an amazing spa regardless of their location. Jill treasured her time and her travels with Onya.

In 2015 while she was contemplating leaving Boston, Jill met her husband Scott due to a mutual love of NASA and peanut butter. The two quickly realized the other was “the one” and married in 2016. The third time was truly the charm for Jill. She loved Scott and Scott loved her profoundly. They would close messages to one another with “for.ever.” as a marker of their love. They enjoyed simple pleasures like road trips, concerts, horribly dancing to new wave videos, laughing appropriately and inappropriately, taco Tuesday, traveling for astronomical events, and curling up together on the couch with their dogs.

Jill loved the night sky. She described her “happy place” as floating quietly and peacefully amongst the stars with her husband Scott and the dogs and cats she adopted, rescued, and loved. Jill, a bright star to so many, is now peacefully floating until a time she feels the gentle touch of Scott’s hand on hers once again. for.ever.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the following in memory of Jill: Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Needs, or Million Women Mentors. A celebration of Jill will occur in the Portland, Maine area in the spring of 2025.
