Florence “Flo” May Lytle, 84, passed away on December 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Flo had a joyful spirit and a heart full of simple delights. She loved her dogs, anything pink, shopping, collecting stuffed animals, and listening to country music. She played the mandolin, piano, and organ entirely by ear, as she did not know how to read music. When her children were young, she proudly served as a Girl Scout Brownie leader.
Flo was well known for her incredible pumpkin bread and deviled eggs, recipes cherished by everyone who was lucky enough to enjoy them. She worked for many years as a cook at Alfred Elementary School and Greenwood Nursing Home, and spent time as a hostess at Leedy’s Restaurant, where she loved greeting familiar faces.
In her spare time, Flo enjoyed relaxing at the family camp, diamond painting with her dear friend Lisa, shopping, and sitting by her pool soaking in the sunshine. Always chilly, she was known for saying, “The sun feels so good,” even when it was really just the warmth of the car heater.
She was also affectionately known by many nicknames, including Flo, Flossie, and “Bubbles” on the CB radio.
Flo was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Lytle, and her son, Gregory Neil. She is survived by her two daughters, her son and his long-term girlfriend, four grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Pinnacle Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice for their love and devotion to her, and to all her new friends she made at Pinnacle.
Flo’s warmth, humor, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
