Emily Doyon

–

Saco, Maine

Emily M. Doyon, 36, of Saco passed away Tuesday morning, June 30, 2026, the victim of a car accident in Scarborough. Emily was born in Portland, Maine on December 26, 1989, the determined daughter of Guy and Erica (Wolfahrt) Doyon. Emily spent her early years in Lyman before moving to Biddeford with her family. Emily was active in the band playing several instruments and embraced the camaraderie of marching band. Everything Emily did she did with her whole heart and soul, and the deep support of her parents and brother.

Near the end of her high school years, Emily had an accident that left her with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. She attended rehab in Massachusetts to help with the intense pain and was able to walk across the stage to receive her diploma with high honors from Biddeford High School, a feat we thought would never happen and a testament to her fierce determination. Emily attended 2.5 years of college at Simmons College in Boston before a serious medical condition, Dysautonomia, began impacting her ability to continue. She was forced to come home and was homebound for the next 15 years.

Never one to stay idle, during this period Emily completed her degree at UMPI online. She took up knitting and became a master knitter, earning her Technical Editor Certification and creating beautiful pieces for friends and family. She felt a kinship with and rescued eight cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (her mother is certain more were in her future). She was a loving and caring mother to them all. Her parents did the leg work, but every single one of them were devoted to her and never left her room.

After being diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, she began to gain strength and was able to get a job which was something unimaginable before. Emily's curiosity and drive spurred her to take various online classes to gain skills she could use in her career. One day, she declared she was moving out and found an apartment in Windham. Emily’s medical conditions followed her out the door, but she never gave up and fought every day to maintain her independence. After a year, her parents found her a house in Saco, which she took great pride in. She just finished painting the rooms herself and hanging artwork that reflected who she was. She was settling in and, after going through a second bout with Long COVID, she was living the life she had been working towards.

Emily was predeceased by her grandparents, Carleton and Betty Davis, Roland and Simonne Doyon, Uncle Kurt Wolfahrt, and Aunt Laura Wolfahrt, and Emily’s four-legged children, Nala, Pixel, Jane, Mysha, Sarah, Sweet Pea, and Jupiter.

Emily is survived by her parents, Guy and Erica; her brother and best friend, Joseph; and her feline daughter Moxie as well as her Aunts & Uncles Shelley and Steven Cleary, Kim and Denis Parent, Dean and Gail Wolfahrt and Steve and Kay Doyon; Special friends Arielle, Lydia, Jenessa, Mayra and her workmates; as well as several cousins and their families.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Thank you to all of the people who supported and loved Emily for who she was and where she was during her journey.
