Diane Patterson

Diane grew up in Medford, Ma. She attended Boston University, earning a B.A. in Fine Arts with a major in Theater. She spent most of her adult life residing in Portland, ME.

As a lover of the arts, Diane found her creative expression through them, in theatric, visual, and culinary pursuits. Her passion for musical theater was enduring. Singing Broadway tunes was a favorite pastime, and her spontaneous recall of a vast repertoire was both remarkable and entertaining. Her paintings depicted a deep connection to the dramatic coast of Maine, especially along the back shore of Peaks Island, her “happy place.” As a life-long “foodie,” Diane enjoyed dreaming up her culinary inspirations on a daily basis. Sharing these with others was always her favorite part.

Beyond her artistic talents, Diane was quick-witted and engaging. She possessed an uncanny ability to walk by strangers and instantly convert their introverted frowns to smiles, with a hearty “hello!" Like no one else, she could elevate a mood or a moment with her unique humor. The light she brought was a blessing to the rest of us and Diane will always be remembered and appreciated for that.
