Biddeford-Allen “Rod” Williams, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born April 26, 1931, in Millinocket, Maine, Rod remained a proud Mainer throughout his life, with a deep love for Mt. Katahdin, the outdoors, cars, and art.
Rod proudly served four years in the United States Navy, where his natural artistic talent led him to work as a staff artist. Following his service, he designed automobiles for Ford and Chrysler before returning to New England and eventually founding his own successful design firm. A gifted artist and designer, Rod continued creating and working well into his 80s.
More than anything, Rod was devoted to his family and a lifelong lover of animals. He shared 72 years of marriage with the love of his life, Carolyn, and together they raised four children: Jerry, Bob, Nancy, and Susan. He was a loving father and grandfather, a principled man with a wonderfully dry sense of humor, and an especially silly and playful grandfather.
Rod leaves behind Carolyn; their four children; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with a fifth on the way; and his two beloved cats. His family feels incredibly blessed to have had 95 years with him, and his love, creativity, humor, will live on for generations.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to his nurses, Nicole and Missy, from Compassus, as well as the staff at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their compassionate care and support.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rod's memory to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, Maine 04094, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 350, Westbrook, Maine 04098.
